Ivan has spent his entire 30-year career in the fields of culture, arts, media, creativity, and activism.

He is a co-founder of two associations (Trafik and Žmergo), a member of three bands (Plod Mirže, Let3, Porno brak), and the founder of four companies (Manufaktura, Klub ljubitelja buke, Neuroradnik, Usta na usta).

From 1996 to 2002, he worked at Svid radio as a radio producer/radio DJ/production and radio club technical leader.

From 2002 to 2011, as a private entrepreneur, he was involved in promotion, marketing, event and concert organisation, and was a co-owner and director of the music festival Hartera (2006–2011).

From 2011 to 2023, he worked as the head of culture for the City of Rijeka. He initiated and led the development of the Rijeka Cultural Development Strategy 2013-2020, Rijeka’s candidacy for EPK2020, the establishment of the Rijeka model of public-civil cooperation, the founding of two public cultural institutions (Art Cinema and HKD), and a series of program and investment EU projects worth a total of around 50 million euros.

From 2017 to 2021, he was the chairman of the supervisory board of Rijeka2020 d.o.o. He has participated in around forty congresses and conferences in the field of culture and arts in ten European countries, as a lecturer, speaker, moderator, panellist, or participant.

Since July the 1st, 2023, he has been a freelancer again and the owner of a company. He works as a strategic advisor on the GO2025! Nova Gorica project, as a collaborator with the publisher V.B.Z. on the organisation and development of the literary festival Vrisak in Rijeka, and as an advisor for international cooperation for the Belgrade music conference Kontakt.

He has significant experience in conceiving, launching, and producing programs and projects at all levels – financial, organisational, and social.
